Pearl and Lapis Triple Strand Festoon Necklace
In the late 1790s, a style of necklace called a "festoon" came in to fashion. It is a lovely and distinctive style that features swags of pearl or chain that come together in central focal points. It's one of my favorite styles of jewelry! They remained popular through the Edwardian Era.
This particular version is made with small white glass pearls and is linked with Glass Lapis stones in a rich, shining blue. They are set in crown settings and a teardrop dangle pearl hanging from each. The central stone is 25mm and the stones to the side are 18mm, for some nice visual balance.
It is finished with gold-plated settings and findings. It measures about 16" in length with a 2" extender chain.
